For this project you will need:

1. Empty Pencil Blanks

2. 3 ml Syringes

3. Pigments

4. Pencil Base

5. Stainless Steel Cup

Assemble all the tools you need. Cover your kitchen counter with newspaper for easy clean up.

Each Pencil will hold about 2 mls of base. If you want to make 10 pencils then measure out 20 grams of base (about 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon)

Next you want to add your pigments. If you are using iron oxides or pure pigments you will need to use much less than if you were using micas only. You may use both to get a dark pencil plus a special effect that a mica will offer. If you are using a pure pigment start with about 1/4 teaspoon if you are using mica powder then you can go up to a full teaspoon or more. Mica powders are very light. If you were to use about 20% which you could that could = 2 level teaspoons.

Prepare your pencil by placing the cap on to the end of the pencil.

Melt and stir the base and pigments together and draw 3 mms up into your syringe. Inject with a steady force till the pencil is full to the top. 1 syringe will fill 2 pencils. If your base starts to set remelt it.

Let your base harden in the pencil. It won't take long but wait at least 10 minutes. After it has set you may sharpen and use your new diy makeup pencil!
